Investigating the status of quality of life of drivers of freight trucks of the city of Kermanshah and the factors influencing it

The quality of life means the individualchr('39')s receipts from his place of residence considering the culture and value system of the community, which is influenced by the goals, expectations and standards sought. There are several factors in driving a car that affects driverschr('39') quality of life. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of life of truck drivers in Kermanshah city in 2015 and determine its relationship with personal characteristics.

Methods and Materials: 

In this cross-sectional descriptive-analytic study, 258 drivers were randomly selected. The data collection tool was a short form of quality of life questionnaire (SF12). Demographic data was also collected in the profile form. Data were entered into SPSS-20 and analyzed using descriptive statistical indices and inferential statistics.

The mean and standard deviation of life quality were 38.5±4.3. 66.7 percent of the participants in the research had a good quality of life. Among the dimensions of quality of life, the lowest mean score was related to social health (19.5±2.7) and the highest score was mental health (21.1±3.4). There was a significant difference between the mean score of quality of life in terms of marital status (P=0.042), age (P=032), physical activity (P=0.002) and history of gastrointestinal diseases (P=0.013).

The status of quality of life in more than half of the surveyed truck drivers was in good condition. But about 33% of these drivers had a modest or inferior quality of life. Planning for promotion interventions is recommended to improve the quality of life of these drivers.
