The present study was conducted aiming to determine the effectiveness of muscle relaxation besides mental on perceived stress and resilience in pregnant women with inclination to have natural childbirth in the town of Salmas.
The research method was quasi experimental with pretest, posttest and control group design. The statistical population of the present study included all pregnant women with inclination to have who natural childbirth referring to urban comprehensive health service bases and centers in the first six months of solar year 2019 in the town of Salmas. 24 pregnant women with the available to have natural childbirth and were randomly replaced into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received therapeutic intervention during one months in sixty-minute sessions once a week while the control group didn’t receive any intervention during the study. The applied instruments included perceived stress questionnaire (Cohen,et.al, 1986) and resilience questionnaire (Conner and Davidson, 2003), Hopkins. the data analysis from the study was done through descriptive statistics and MANCOVA Using SPSS software.
The results of data analysis showed that muscle relaxation beside mental imagery have significant effect on perceived stress and resilience of pregnant women with the inclination to have natural childbirth (p<0.0001) in a way that this training was able to decrease perceived stress improve resilience in pregnant women with the inclination to have natural childbirth.
Muscle relaxation with mental imagery, by using contraction and relaxation of muscles, as well as reducing stress and increasing endorphins, reduces perceived stress and increases the resilience of pregnant women with a desire for natural childbirth.
