Developing and Validating a School-Based Management Model Based on of the Fundamental Reform Document

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to develop and validate a school-based management model based on the fundamental reform document which has been done with an exploratory mixed approach that in the qualitative part, the content analysis method was used, and in the quantitative part, confirmatory factor analysis were used. The statistical population of the qualitative part included documents, school-based management specialists and school principals with practical experience that theoretical purposive sampling method has been utilized. Data was collected using qualitative content analysis of documents and semi-structured interviews with 20 school-based management specialists and school principals with practical experience. The result of data analysis in the qualitative part led to the identification of 121 basic themes in the field of school-based management which were organized in the form of six global themes and 16 organizing themes. In quantitative part, principals, deputies and teachers of schools in Semnan province formed the statistical population that 267 people were selected as the sample through stratified random sampling method. In this part, in order to collect data, a questionnaire based on qualitative research data was used and to assess the validity and reliability of the questionnaire, confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha coefficient were used, respectively. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that 16 extracted organizing themes have sufficient factor load to measure school-based management measurement tool. The results indicated that this questionnaire has the necessary validity and reliability in terms of quantity. As a result, the final scale was approved with six subsystems and 121 markers and was introduced as a tool to measure school-based management based on the fundamental reform document.
