The Relationship Between Leadership Style and Stressors with Athletic Performance of Football Players of the Premier League of Alborz Province

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between coaching style and stressors with athletic performance of football players of the premier league of Alborz province. The research method is descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the present study was composed of all the players of the football premier league of Alborz province (N = 250). Based on Morgan's table, 148 people were randomly selected (n = 148). Bass and Avilo leadership style questionnaire (2000), Anshel and Satarso stress resources questionnaire (2007), and Ghasemi athletic performance questionnaire (2012) were used. The calculated Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.88 for the variable of transformational leadership style, 0.80 for pragmatic leadership style, 0.59 for non-intervention leadership style, 0.84 for stressors, and 0.82 for athletic performance. Spearman correlation showed a positive and significant relationship between transformational, pragmatic and non-interventional styles with athletic performance. No significant relationship was found between the stressors and athletic performance. Also, the results of multivariate regression showed that transformational leadership style can predict athletic performance.
