The relationship between homesickness and mental health and social support of female students in dormitories of the University of Tehran

The present study was conducted on the relationship between homesickness and mental health and social support of female students in dormitories of the University of Tehran, which is an important part of the concerns of Iranian families.

The present research was applied according to its purpose and its method was descriptive-correlational according to the nature of data collection. The statistical population of the present study was 1200 female and doctoral students in dormitories of the University of Tehran, of which 384 were selected as the sample size by stratified random sampling according to Morgan table. To collect information from the Persian Homesickness Questionnaire; Questionnaire of social support of Vauxi et al .; The Goldberg and Williams General Health Questionnaire was used. Pearson correlation test and stepwise multiple regression method were used to analyze the statistical data.

The findings show that there is a relationship between feelings of homesickness, homesickness and desire to return home with mental health, social support and even physical health symptoms, anxiety symptoms and sleep disorders of female students. Is.

The results showed that the correlation coefficient between the feeling of homesickness and its dimensions with mental health and social support has a significant relationship. The correlation coefficient between mental health and social support is also significant.
