Abstract:

The aim of this study was to predict the attitude towards extramarital relationships based on early maladaptive schemas, criteria for choosing a spouse and responsibility in working women in Neyriz. The method of the present study was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of this study consisted of all working women in Neyriz in 1399. From the statistical population, 200 people were selected by one-stage cluster sampling method and studied using an electronic questionnaire. To collect data, Young's maladaptive schema questionnaires (YSQ), Welfare and Partnership Welfare Criteria (2008), Watley (2008) Attitudes Toward Extramarital Relationships (GEF) and Goff Accountability (1984) were used. After collecting and extracting data, participants' scores were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression and SPSS-24 statistical software. The results showed that there was a significant negative correlation (P <0.01) between responsibility and criteria for choosing a mate (content and process) with attitudes toward extramarital affairs and between the schema of exclusion and disengagement, self-governance and dysfunctional domain, disrupted constraint domain and other domains. Orientation has a significant positive correlation with attitudes toward extramarital relationships (P <0.01). The results also showed that the criteria for choosing a spouse with a beta coefficient of -0.13, responsibility with a beta coefficient of -0.12, schemas of exclusion and cut-off with a beta coefficient of 0.59, self-governance and dysfunction with a beta coefficient of 0.26, constraint domain Disorders with a beta of 0.19 and other areas of orientation with a beta of 0.20 were able to predict the tendency of extramarital affairs in women. Therefore, according to the results of the research, it is hoped that by training the necessary skills regarding the criteria for choosing a spouse, as well as examining the initial incompatible schemas and responsibility in premarital counseling, the necessary precautions can be taken to a large extent.
