The effectiveness of compassion focused group therapy on sociotropy and sensitivity to rejection in high school Girls in Ahwaz

The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of compassion-focused group therapy (CFT) on sociotropy and sensitivity to rejection in high school females in Ahwaz. The research method was experimental with pre-post test and experimental and control groups. The population included all female students of high schools in Ahwaz in 2017 (1396-97s.c).100students with available sampling were selected, then among this students, 30 students who had received highest score in the test of sociotropy and sensitivity to rejection were selected; Then randomly divided in to two group as experimental (15 students) and control (15 students). They were matched from age, educational status, not suffering from acute physical and mental disorder and other criteria considered in this research. The instruments of this research were Robins Personal Style Questionnaire, Downey & Feldman Sensitivity to Rejection Questionnaire. The experimental group received 8 sessions of compassion-focused group therapy; but the control group did not received any intervention. The results revealed that there was a significant difference between experimental and control groups in sensitivity to rejection (p<0.021). The rate of sensitivity to rejection decreased in experiential group in comparison with pre-test and control group. Compassion-focused therapy is effective method in decrease sensitivity to rejection so, the use of compassion-focused therapy is recommended to treat sensitivity to rejection.
