Phenomenology of the Place in Dariush Mehrjoui’s MoviesCase Study: "Home" in Ejareh-Nesheenha and Mehman-e Maman
Examining the qualitative criteria of the home as a space that influences the formation of human personality is one of the most important approaches in anthropological studies that is possible through phenomenology. Although phenomenology is rooted in philosophical issues, its sphere of influence also includes architecture and urban planning, which has caused opening some new issues such as discussions on the phenomenology of place, context in architectural design. Concepts which their representation in cinema, creates a suitable platform for presenting the idea’s considered by filmmakers to create more credibility for the audience.In this research, using analytical-descriptive method, the interpretation of semantic thought for "Home" in Dariush Mehrjoui's cinematic narratives with the phenomenological approach of place has been done based on the views and views of Christian Nurberg-Schultz. And the two works of have been purposefully selected as a case study for the possibility of examining different types of houses and also due to the similarity of the drama genre with the lives of real people. The results indicate that reflection of the concept of home and its existential connection with human beings as the main strategy for defining characters and shaping the narrative in Mehrjui's works, is an emphasize on reciprocal and meaningful relationship between home and human life. In fact, in these films, home is not just a material being, but a place that defines the lifestyles of the inhabitants by its qualitative and mental characters associated with concepts such as "sense of ownership", "human relations" and "tradition".
