Abstract:

In Shiite narrative comprehensive books (Javami’ Riva’ei), there are many narrations concerning the interpretation of the verses of the Holy Quran by the infallibles. It has been reported that many inner meanings have been expressed for the verses of the Holy Quran. In these narrations, the verses of the Qur'an have been interpreted as referring to the high position of the Ahl al-Bayt or sometimes the verses are referring to their enemies. The main purpose of this article is to analyze these narrations and answer the question that the extraction of interpretive meanings mentioned in the narrations by the Ahl al-Bayt has been based on what principles, methods and assumptions. The emphasis of this article has been on the fact that without knowing these principles and taking into account the presuppositions, understanding and evaluating these narrations - which constitute a large volume of Shiite interpretive heritage - will be incomplete and in some cases even incorrect.
