Rangeland Management, “History of administrative organization”
The Forest Management Organization was established at the late Qajar dynasty. Department of rangeland management however, emerged from the early 1940s. Before the nationalization of the rangelands in January 1963, there were three types of lands. Governmental, Kaleseh which owned by Shah and his family and the rest were rolled under feudal system through which rangelands had a traditional management system run by nomads and villagers. The rangelands around the village also were managed by their owner. Alongside with the establishment of the “Forests Company” in 1949, the issue of scientific and principled management of rangelands was raised. Subsequently the technical office of rangelands started to work within the ministry of Natural Resources. While after Ministry of Natural Resources, in 1967, dissolved and the office continued to work in an organization named “The Forests and Rangelands Organization” has not changed much in terms of internal structure and organizational situation so far.
