The condition of citizens’ rights accused in police investigation stage (In light of the law of Code of Criminal Procedure approved in 2014)
The first place that may violate the rights of the accused, is in dealing with the bailiff and If police personnel as restraining the judicial system with those of the civil rights of the accused, which are required, are not aware they may perform their actions to violate the rights of suspects. In this respect, the need to protect the dignity and reputation of the accused is the most important and yet most obvious right that police should always consider. This study aims to explain the rights of citizens accused in the process of police investigation. The statistical population of this study was 350 personnel of the police station in UrmiaCity in 1394, and according to Morgan’schart, 183 people selected and participated. For collecting the required information, anauthor-made questionnaire was used to test. Information collected was analyzed by utilizing descriptive statistical models and inferential statistics (Chi-square test). Current study deals with the status of compliance of the civil rights of suspects during police investigations, including summoning formalities stage ofthe accused, suspects’ interrogation formalities stage, stage of formalities of escorting the criminals,the surveillance procedures of the suspects by police personnel as public enforcers of Justice. The findings show that there is no significant relationship between demographic characteristics and rights of citizens accused in police stations except staff’s education (awareness of civil rights cases), but there is a significant positive relationship between police investigation stages (accordingly escorting the accused2.82, method of interrogation 2.63,summoning stage 2.58 and Stage of the surveillance procedures of the suspectswith a 2.47 rating) and the civil rights of theaccused in police stations.
