The effectiveness of couple behavioral therapy on attitudes toward infidelity and marital adjustment in couples
The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of couple behavioral therapy on attitudes toward infidelity and marital adjustment in couples in Kermanshah city in 2020-2021. In this study, a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test design with a control group was used. In the present study, using purposive sampling method, 40 couples by available sampling and randomly divided into two groups of 20 experimental and 20 alternative control and answered the questionnaires of attitude to marital infidelity and marital adjustment. The experimental group received 8 sessions of behavioral couple therapy training twice a week for 60 minutes and the participants in the control group were placed on a waiting list. Analysis of Findings Using Independent Analysis of Covariance showed that training in behavioral couple therapy has changed attitudes toward marital infidelity and increased marital adjustment. The most important results of this study are the effectiveness of behavioral couple therapy training in attitudes toward infidelity and marital adjustment of couples. Therefore, the officials of family counseling centers are advised to take effective steps to have an attitude towards marital infidelity and increase the compatibility of couples, and based on this, take the necessary intervention measures to prevent infidelity.
