The quality of life and its correlation with Socio-Psychological Factors (Case study: Female-Headed Households in Shiraz)

The present Study examines the socio-psychological factors related to the quality of life (QoL) of female-headed households (FHHs) in Shiraz. Research data derived from a survey study. The sample consisted of 400 FHHs who were selected through multi-stage cluster sampling. Data has been collected through Questionnaire. Using questionnaire consisted of demographic information, social capital questionnaire, The Rosenberg self-esteem scale and QoL questionnaire. The questionnaire was completed by FHHs attending support agencies in Shiraz. Then, data were analyzed using SPSS Version 21.0. The data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Mean difference test (T test), analysis of variance (F test), correlation test and multivariate regression were used to analyze the data in the inferential statistics section. The results indicated that QoL of FHHs was significantly associated with the number of individuals under guardianship, number of years being covered by special support agencies, self-esteem, social cohesion, social trust, social participation, social network and economic capital. Regression analysis results, also, showed that self-esteem, social trust, social cohesion, income, number of individuals under guardianship and number of years being covered by special support agencies have determinative effects on QoL of FHHs. Overall, the variables accounted for 53% of the variance in QoL of FHHs.
