The effect of religion and spiritual beliefs on self-efficacy resilience burden of children of elderly parents with Alzheimer's.

The aim of this article is to explain the effect of spiritual beliefs and religious teachings on how to care for the elderly with Alzheimer's disease who are cared for at home by their children and endure a lot of stress and how to increase resilience.This study has taken a phenomenological approach focusing on Van Menen method and the case study is the participating family caregivers living in Tehran and the findings which include semantic units, sub-themes and main themes through semi-structured and in-depth interviews have been obtained and analyzed. The importance of the issue is that due to various factors such as rising life expectancy, improving health and growth of health services and technology and birth control policy, the growth rate of the elderly population has increased and since many older people are still in Iran is cared for with its family and at home, the need for this research to examine the role of religion and spiritual beliefs as one of the main institutions of any society in increasing self-efficacy and reducing the burden of caring for their children becomes clear. The results indicate the strong role of religious teachings in empowering family caregivers to deal with the problems of intensive care of Alzheimer's patients.
