Study of the role of childhood trauma in predicting coping styles, identity and religious coping in adulthood

The aim of this study was to study the role of childhood psychological trauma in predicting coping styles, identity and religious coping in adulthood. The method of the present study is a descriptive correlation (regression). The statistical population of this study was all people aged 18 to 40 years who were covered by the welfare of Tehran in 1398, and a child trauma questionnaire was distributed among 300 of them. The sampling method was purposive. The instruments used in this study were Pargament (2000) Religious Coping Questionnaire, Brzonsky (1989) Identity Style Questionnaire, Bernstein (1994) Child Trauma Questionnaire and Lazarus Coping Styles (1985). To analyze the data, indicators and methods of descriptive statistics of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and standard error of data have been used; Inferential statistics were used to obtain Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression using spss-24 software. Findings showed that childhood trauma has a significant role in predicting coping styles. Childhood trauma plays a significant role in predicting identity styles. Childhood trauma also plays a significant role in predicting religious confrontation.
