The process of formation of "found" identity and "constructed" identity in Salafism and political Islam

The aim of the present study is to investigate the formation of "founded identity" and "constructed identity" in Salafism and political Islam. The research method is descriptive-analytical and it is hypothesized that Islamic currents have followed the process of revivalism with two different assumptions, namely finding identity and constructing it; Salafism represented the first group, and political Islam represented the second group. The results indicate that the Salafi movement followed the process of identity revival through: "constant reference to the text", "ignoring the accumulated knowledge of Muslims" and "emphasizing the appearance of texts"; In contrast, political Islam has sought to revive Muslim identity in innovative ways by emphasizing "interpretation of religious texts," "referring to another while differentiating with it," and "returning to everyday life."
