The present study aimed to compare empathy and Theory of Mind between elders who are memberships of altruistic organizations and normal ones. This study was conducted with a comparative method. Therefore, 240 subjects were selected. (two groups; 120 people in each group). They were selected using random and convenience sampling method. They completed Interpersonal Reactivity Index, Theory of mind, Islamic lifestyle (ILST), and Quality of Life (SF-36). Data were analyzed using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). Results showed that there were significant differences between both groups in terms of empathy and Theory of Mind, and elders who are memberships of altruistic organizations have high levels of empathy, Theory of Mind, Islamic life style, and quality of life than normal ones. Altruism is defined as behaviors that provide positive response based on others' needs and welfare, with the aim of helping others. Accordingly, empathy is regarded as an important factor in the development of altruistic behaviors. On the other hand, ability to understsand and perceive mental states of oneself,others relationship between the person and the others is a part of socialcognition results in the facilitation or understanding social interactions and altruistic behaviors. Also, Islamic life style is a social behavior and the concept of spiritusality involves loving others, empathy, and intimacy and altruistic behaviors. Furthermore, quality of life involves essential needs, satisfaying life, social coherence, altruistim and sacrifying.
