Factors affecting the Social Exclusion of the Elderly in Kashan and Aran and Bidgol

One of the important issues in any society is paying attention and planning for the elderly in the society to prevent the isolation and exclusion of these people. Therefore, the present study seeks to assess the factors affecting the social exclusion of the elderly in the cities of Kashan and Aran and Bidgol. Due to the fact that the elderly population of Kashan and Aran and Bidgol cities is higher than the average elderly population of the country, in these cities, special attention should be paid to the elderly and their lives.

This research was conducted by survey method and the sample size of the research, using Cochran's formula, was 320  people. In this study, stratified sampling method has been used to determine the sample.

The results show that: There is a significant and inverse relationship between support of relatives, support of children, social capital, economic capital, support of formal organizations and leisure of the elderly and social exclusion of the elderly. But there was no significant relationship between the variables of support of informal organizations, age, education and gender of the elderly and their social exclusion. In Multivariate Analysis and Path Analysis, among the six independent variables that have a significant and inverse relationship with the dependent variable of research, two variables, namely economic capital and children support, had a direct impact on the research dependent variable.

Based on the experimental findings of this study, it can be said that the more the elderly are involved in activities of daily living, the more they have access to various assets, the more they are supported by family and society and the more they are paid attention to, the less they will feel rejected. But if they do not participate in the activities of the society and are not supported and taken care of by the family and the society, they will gradually be socially excluded and isolated.
