A Comparative Study of the Fourth and Fifth Waves of Terrorism in the Middle East

Four different waves of terrorism have already been mentioned in the form of a historical process. In a way, it can be said that the international system in the post-Westphalian world (from 1870) to the contemporary era has four waves of terrorism under the title; Anarchist, nationalist, leftist and religious terrorism has passed; These waves have also had a significant impact on the evolution of the international system. However, acknowledging these terrorist waves, the present article introduces a new wave called the fifth wave of terrorism in the Middle East, which is rooted in the evolution of international politics and the pattern of proliferative order. The fifth wave differs from other waves in both goals and tactics, especially the fourth wave of terrorism.
