The role of biomarkers in the diagnosis and diferentiation of thyroid cancers
Thyroid cancer is one of the mos t common endocrine cancers in the body, which accounts for approximately 1.8% of all malignancies in Iran and its prevalence is reported to be higher among women than men .This type of cancer is classiied into four main subgroups including papillary (PTC), follicular (FTC), medullary (MTC) and Anaplas tic (ATC).To diferentiate diferent types of cancer, biopsy methods such as FNAB are usually used, which is an invasive method and has a low speciicity, so that about 20 to 40% of the results of this method are not reliable. With the advancement of genetics, the use of markers such as miRNAs to diagnose, diferentiate, treat and predict the prognosis of this disease has been considered by many researchers. In this review article, we dealt with some markers and their possible role in diferent type of thyroid carcinoma.
