The Effectiveness of the Implementation of Teaching Philosophy to Children Program on the Attitude toward Creativity and Achievement Motivation of Girl Students in Isfahan

Abstract:
The main aim of current study was to investigate the effectiveness of the implementation of teaching philosophy to children program on the attitude toward creativity and achievement motivation of girl students in Isfahan in the academic year of 2017-18. This study was a quasi-experimental one conducted through a control group and a pretest and posttest. The statistical population of the study included all female students in Isfahan aged 12 to 14 which a sample was selected randomly through cluster sampling from two of the Centers of Children and Adolescents. Then, 15 students were selected randomly from each of these centers and were put into two control and experimental groups. To collect data, at first, Charls. L. Schiefer's creativity attitude scale (CAS) (1998) and Hermann's achievement motivation questionnaire (1970) with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.61 and 0.79 respectively were used. Later on, the subjects in the experimental group attended 15 one-hour sessions - every week 2 sessions - of teaching philosophy to children program. At the end, the questionnaires were completed again by both groups. Comparison of mean scores of attitude toward creativity and achievement motivation in the experimental and control group were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance and showed a significant difference (P <0.001). In other words, it can be acknowledged that the implementation of teaching philosophy to children program has had a positive impact on the growth of creativity and achievement motivation of children. Hence, by providing educational courses of philosophy to children in schools throughout the country, it hopes to improve the creativity and achievement motivation of children in schools.
