Identifying the effective factors involved in marital satisfaction is essential in order to enrich marital life. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the role of self-compassion and spiritual experiences in predicting marital satisfaction of female teachers.
In a descriptive correlational study among all female teachers in Ahvaz in the academic year 2019-2020, 2448 people were selected by convenience sampling method. They responded to the Nef (2003) Self-Compassion Questionnaire, Andrew & Fear (2002) Spiritual Experiences, and the short Enrich Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire (Favers and Elson, 1993). Data analysis was performed using Pearson correlation coefficient test and multiple regressions with SPSS software version 22.
The results showed that there was a direct and significant relationship between self-compassion and spiritual experiences with marital satisfaction (p <0.05). They also explain the components of self-compassion (45.2%) and the components of spiritual experiences (31.2%) of the variance of marital conflicts.
Based on the results, by increasing the supportive-spiritual experiences and increasing the compassion of families, as well as the attention of policy makers in the field of education and community health of this issue, we can take steps to improve the marital satisfaction of teachers.
