Explaining and criticizing the position of teacher authority in religious education according to Quranic teachings

This study describes the concept of authority, religious education and the consequences of illegitimate teacher authority. Teacher authority is one of the most important issues in education; On the other hand, one of the factors related to the teacher that causes damage in the educational system is the improper use of authority by the teacher. In this research, the method of concept analysis with respect to the semantic network has been used. The research findings show that the concept of authority in Quranic teachings has different types, some of which are justified and some of which are unjustified. The justified types of teacher authority arise from his knowledge and moral characteristics, and therefore the religious education considered in the Qur'an is a process; That is, it is a continuous, gradual, and temporal flow, and it is not one-sided, like all kinds of quasi-education, such as indoctrination and imposition; It is two-way and interactive. Also, in the analysis of Quranic verses, it was found that the individual responsibility of the student towards his own destiny, the human dignity of the teacher and also his human behavior prevent unjustified authority. Therefore, in education and especially religious education, one should be careful of unjustified types of authority.
