The effects of hydrophilic plant-bac plates on seedling establishment and growth of Holoxylon persicum Bunge for biological regeneration of desert areas
Some natural materials such as organic matter can be used to increase the usable water of plant in soil. The Plant-bac plates are made of cellulosic waste and can be used to increase water holding capacity, especially in desert areas. In order to investigate the effect of plant-bac plates on water consumption and growth of Haloxylon persicum Bunge, an experiment was conducted for 3 years in Besat nursery located in the east of Qom province. The main plot consisted of irrigation treatments at intervals of 20 days (control) and 40 days intervals and the sub-plot consisted of two treatments of use and non-use of plant-bac. The results of statistical analysis showed that the effects of using plant-bac and year as well as the interaction effect of irrigation on plant-bac use were significantly different (P<0.01, P<0.05) . Also, combined analysis of traits showed that the effects of irrigation on the use of plant-bac and year for height growth and the effects of using plant-bac and year for seedling diameter growth were significantly different. Comparison of mean traits showed that seedling height increased with age of them in the third year after planting in the treatment using plant-bac with 129.42 cm and seedling height growth with 28.56 cm was higher than other treatments. Also, the diameter of seedlings increased with the age of them in the third year after planting in the treatment using plant-bac with 127.14 cm and the height growth of seedlings with 15.80 cm was higher than other treatments.
