The Relationship between Social Capital and Police Altruistic Behaviors from the Perspective of Citizens
The aim of this research is to study the relationship between the social capital and altruistic police behaviors. The research method is descriptive and explanatory using a researcher-made questionnaire. The sample size of 600 citizens aged 20 to 49 years old in the urban areas of Mashhad were selected based on simple random sampling. Cronbach's alpha value of social capital is calculated as 0.819 and altruistic behavior as 0.826. Therefore, the hypothesis of the relationship between social capital and the dependent variable is confirmed at a significance level of 0.01 based on the correlation coefficient (0.550) with moderate intensity. Based on the Beta coefficient, the variables of trust (0.453), relationship (0.437), and social capital (0.398) have an effect on the dependent variable; however, the Betas of cohesion and participation variables have no effect. According to the regression model, the components of the social capital variable have explained about 32 percent of the changes in the dependent variable. As a result, strengthening programs in line with social ties, participation and foundation of trust, and collective cohesion of citizens with the police can increase the areas of responsibility, empathy, and other desirable of the police force cultural behavior.
