Mental health in students in Qazvin University of Medical Sciences

To assess mental health in students in Qazvin University of Medical Sciences.

In all 516 students (457 female, 59 male) responded to the 28 items General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28). In order to indicate severe mental health disorders in students, for the general scale score of 23 and for the subscales score of 14 were used as cut-off points.

The results indicated that 11.8% of students suffered from mental health disorders. The rates in associated degree (AD) students; BS students and MD students were 14.3%, 6.9% and 6.2% respectively. Mental health disorders prevalence was 3.4% for men and 12.9% for women.

In general, severe mental health in medical students was found to be low.
