Analyzing factors affecting economic viability in inefficient peri-urban spaces(Case study: Fatemiyeh neighborhood, Zanjan city)

Marginalization is a phenomenon not only in Iran but also in the whole world as a problem that the governments have not been able to get rid of and find a solution for it. Planning to improve the quality of life in marginal and peri-urban areas requires the identification of factors affecting livability in different communities. Given that the component of livability can be checked in three economic, social and environmental dimensions, the economic dimension is considered the most important dimension affecting the quality of urban life and its improvement. Therefore, the current research examines the status of economic indicators affecting the livability of peri-urban areas of Zanjan with a descriptive-analytical approach. The main goal of this research is to improve the quality of life and increase the viability of these types of areas. In this regard, the effective indicators in the economic dimension of livability are analyzed using the structural-interpretive modeling technique after extracting from the relevant research literature and interviewing experts. The assessment of economic viability is done using Mic Mac software. The results of the research show that the indicators of "adequate and sufficient income", "having a suitable job", "job security situation", "suitable job opportunities" and "amount of savings" contribute the most to the economic viability of Fatemiyeh neighborhood. Therefore, the promotion of these indicators due to their influence and high dependence, which will affect the entire system due to changes; it is suggested to develop and increase the livability of this area.
