Correlation of Genuine Leadership, Individual Creativity and Gaining Competitive Advantage by Explaining the Mediating Role of Psychological Empowerment in the Staff of the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Tehran

Leadership is one of the most important pillars in global competition, and creativity and innovation are valuable resources for gaining a competitive advantage in this field. The aim of the present study was to determine the correlation of genuine leadership, individual creativity and gaining competitive advantage by explaining the mediating role of psychological empowerment in the staff of the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Tehran in 2020.


The method of this research is descriptive-correlation. The statistical population of the study was the staff of the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Tehran in 2020 with 890 people, the number of research samples was equal to 485 people was determined by simple random method by lottery type. Data collection instruments were demographic questionnaire, "Authentic Leadership Questionnaire", "Rand Sip's Creativity Questionnaire", "Competitive Advantage Questionnaire" and "Psychological Empowerment Scale". Face validity and reliability were verified by internal consistency method by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient of instruments. Data analysis was performed using SPSS. 20 and Amos .16.


Genuine leadership has a positive and significant correlation with employee creativity (0.47) and gaining a competitive advantage (0.47). Also, there is a significant correlation between genuine leadership and psychological empowerment (0.54). On the other hand, psychological empowerment as a mediating variable has a positive and significant correlation with creativity (0.37) and gaining a competitive advantage (0.70). 


Genuine leadership and psychological empowerment correlate positively, meaningfully with creativity and gain a competitive advantage. Therefore, it is suggested that the Ministry of Sports and Youth use programs that empower and strengthen the creativity of employees.
