Gender study of Academic Research in humanities; Exploring Role of women in the Farabi International Festival

Recognition of gender differences in science is one of the most important topics in interdisciplinary studies in social sciences -in the field of sociology of science and studies of women and gender. It can benefit the science policy making and led to the optimization of related programs. This study aims to identify the situation of women experts and researchers in the field of humanities and reminding the necessity to use their capacities more than before. Methodologically using secondary analysis, it explores winners of Farabi International Festival in four sections: domestic part, foreign part and other titles as well as those involved in the scientific committee as members.Findings show that the number of male winners is more than three times that of female. In total, women in the best position (ninth period) have been able to achieve 30% of the awards. Female researchers have highest score in the groups of information technology, information and librarianship, language and literature and linguistics, as well as art and aesthetics. In the side section, including five awards, only three women have been selected during these years. The gender ratio in the international selection section is 0.09. A total of 5 women against 135 men have been able to join the scientific committee of the festival in eleven rounds. The article outlines strategies for changing and overcoming the current situation.
