Death anxiety is one of the most common mental disorders of old age and it is a multidimensional construct that affects many aspects of the life of the elderly. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of identifying socio-religious factors affecting the death anxiety of the elderly in Iranian studies.

The combined effect size index of the studies is 0.349 under the fixed model and 0.441 under the random effects model. In the separate examination of the factors, the variables of religious orientation, social support, social capital, religious attitude, adherence to religion and religious beliefs respectively had the most significant effect on death anxiety.
According to the results of the research, it is appropriate for health professionals, practitioners and planners in the field of aging to consider activities to strengthen and deepen social-religious factors in order to reduce the death anxiety of the elderly.
