of police crime prevention and the citizens’ sense of social security in coastal cities of Nowshahr and Chalus
The presented research is conducted with the purpose of evaluating the relationship between the dimensions of police crime prevention and the citizens’ sense of social security in the coastal cities of Nowshar and Chalus. This research is a descriptive-analytical survey type of study. The statistical population of the research is the citizens who referred to the Nowshahr and Chalus police stations in the year 1400, which are 165 individuals selected by the Krejcie-Morgan table and simple random sampling. The credit of the questionnaires is confirmed by the respected professors, and the reliability was obtained using Cronbach's alpha formula: 0.74 and 0.86 for the police crime prevention and the sense of security questionnaires, respectively. The SPSS software and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient, Regression, and Friedman) were used to analyze the data. The findings of the research indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between police crime prevention and the sense of security among the citizens of Nowshahr and Chalus. Moreover, the dimensions of police crime prevention have a positive and meaningful association with the sense of social security. According to the Friedman test, the highest averages were allocated to the public's understanding of police force duties, police interactions with government agencies, and finally police discipline, respectively. The results illustrate that the greater the crime prevention, the greater the citizens’ sense of social security. Also, with the increase in the police’s crime prevention, the citizens of Nowshahr and Chalus city feel more social security.
