Abstract:

By analyzing the political behavior of scholars, it is necessary to pay attention to the contexts and conditions of their time. It is not possible to expect scholars to have the same performance in different situations and times when facing social and political issues. This principle should also be taken into consideration in the interaction between Haj Sheikh Abdul Karim Haeri and Reza Shah. Ayatollah Haeri's political approach against a despotic and irrational person like Reza Shah clearly shows that his smart measures were very effective in preserving Islam and protecting the emerging seminary of Qom. Although the issue of uncovering the hijab was considered very important, it was more important to preserve the basis of religion and the newly established area of Qom. According to Reza Shah's behaviorism, in the issue of removing the hijab, Hajj Sheikh Abdul Karim Haeri did not consider the severity of action and rebellion against the government to be effective.
