A Study of the Challenges of Health and Sport in the Country (A Case Study: Samā Junior Colleges)
The purpose of the present article is to study challenges of health and sport in the country emphasizing on Samā junior colleges. The method of study is descriptive survey and it is practical in terms of purpose. The statistical population of the research consists of all 7000 students of Samā junior colleges in district 5 of Iran which are under the supervision of Islamic Azad University and Samā organization. Using the Morgan table, the statistical sample of the research was calculated to be 364. The data collection instrument was a research-made questionnaire that its validity was confirmed by the experts and its reliability was measured to be 0.92, using Cronbach’s alpha. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and Friedman test were used. The results showed that some of the most important challenges and obstacles in the way of students’ participation in physical activities during their leisure time include lack of transportation services for their commuting, monotony of extracurricular sport activities, their severe exhaustion, not considering their interests, and inappropriate time schedule of the sport clubs in their dormitories and universities. Moreover, as one of the incentives to encourage students to physical activity during their free time, we can refer to allocating free sport equipment for them.
