The effect of lifestyle on quality of life and health disorders in the elderly population of Ahvaz in 2020
Demographic studies on aging in developing countries is a relatively new endeavor. A healthy lifestyle is a valuable resource for reducing the prevalence and impact of health problems and improving health, adapting to stressful life factors and improving the quality of life. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of lifestyle on quality of life and health disorders in the elderly population of Ahvaz in 2020.
This descriptive-survey study was performed on 1000 elderly population over 60 years old of Ahvaz in 2020. Data collection was done by electronic questionnaire and its publication in domestic virtual media in a multi-step method. The questionnaire was researcher-made and included demographic, knowledge, attitude and practice questions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, frequency and percentage) and analytical statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient or Spearman correlation coefficient). A significance level of 0.05 was considered. Finally, to test the theoretical model of research and validity of the questionnaire, structural equation modeling was performed using AMOS software.
According to findings, all T test obtained were greater than 1.96% and all hypotheses have been confirmed. The results showed that the lifestyle of the elderly has a significant impact on their health.
It is absolutely necessary for the elderly to be aware of a healthy lifestyle, and by establishing healthy lifestyle classes, an effective step can be taken in improving the health and quality of life of this vulnerable group of society. Also, classes such as stress management training, healthy nutrition training, providing recreational and sports programs are among the medical solutions.
