Abstract:
“Mythos and Logos in Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh” Abstract:The ‘myth’ is receiving serious scientific attention that indicates this domain is valued. Myths have been seeded in humans’ minds since history began and nurtured through imagination rather than developing their roots in humans’ logical minds The world of myths is not ruled by logical wisdom that makes myths (Mythos) and Logos (wisdom) to be mutually exclusive. In the eyes of many, myth is a superstitious and inattentive subject; however, it has the power of opening a world of enlightenment to humans if the key to its realization is developed, which is nothing but having a scientific and philosophical approach and being open to opposite opinions. The author used a descriptive-analytical research method, inspired by the literature and examples from Shahnameh, to specify the difference between ‘mythos’ and ‘logos’ and describe how the parallel movement of these two contributed to believing in myths and understanding the Iranians history of civilization. Keywords: Shahnameh'Myth'Symbol'Mythos' Logos.
