Examining the key propositions of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran in compliance with the model of good local governance

The concept of good governance was introduced at the beginning of the 1980s. In the 1990s, international organizations, including the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program, and the UNHCR, sought to clarify and enumerate governance indicators. With the unity of the criterion of repetition of indicators in these studies, we chose ten components as frequent and important indicators to consider a good title for governance. Examining the key statements of the 177 principles of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, we examined the degree of repetition of these indicators. The various principles of this law have been taken into account. Among these, the indicators of rule of law, participation and accountability and responsibility have the highest and transparency, efficiency and effectiveness, central agreement have the least repetition. Therefore, paying attention to the rule of law through the participation of the people, while emphasizing the accountability and responsibility of the pillars of the government, is the dominant thought in drafting the constitution.
