A comparative study of the concept of freedom in the thought of Imam Khomeini and Isaiah Berlin (With an emphasis on the authenticity of Al-Baraa')

The subject of this article is the comparison of the concept of freedom in the thought of Imam Khomeini (with emphasis on the purity of al-Bara') and Isaiah Berlin. Therefore, the main question of this article is about comparing the views of Imam Khomeini and Isaiah Berlin. The hypothesis of the research is that these two views can be compared and evaluated according to the attention they have paid to this concept. Freedom is related to human nature in some ways, therefore, it is not only his long-standing dream, but also one of his major intellectual concerns, which has always attracted the attention of different thinkers during the history of thought, and sometimes comparing the foundations and intellectual-philosophical approach of these different thinkers. has been able to open interesting dimensions of attention to this concept. Therefore, in order to pay attention to this issue, the article has compared the views of Imam Khomeini with a focus on the originality of al-Bara' with Berlin's views. The research has come to the conclusion that, on the one hand, al-Bara'a's purity in jurisprudential discourse has significant similarities and overlaps with negative freedom in Berlin's liberal discourse, and on the other hand, according to the anthropological foundations of Islamic thought and subtleties of the Imam's thought, it seems that freedom in Isla al-Bara'a is not only more comprehensively planned but also closer to human happiness. The data is collected in the form of library and documents and the research approach is comparative.
