A look at the opportunities and threats caused by the water management of border rivers in the west of the country (case study; Kermanshah and Ilam provinces)

Water is a vital and environmental issue and has an extraordinary security dimension. In a way that can affect other aspects of security. Lack of water in the present and in the future is the source of many unrests and riots. Climate changes, environmental issues and water crisis are among the most important challenges of today's human societies, because due to the severe reduction of water resources, many countries in different parts of the world, including the Middle East, are facing a water crisis and even bankruptcy. In such a situation, border rivers as one of the Important water resources have been the focus of governments, including the country of Iran. Therefore, for several years, the water management of the border rivers in Kermanshah and Ilam provinces, which implies many opportunities for the residents of the border areas of these two provinces, has received the attention of Iranian officials and planners, and they have implemented large water projects. The main question is, how will the reduction of water entering Iraq and the transfer of water between basins after the implementation of this project lead to the formation of threats against Iran's national security in different dimensions? It is assumed that the implementation of large water projects called "tropical system plan" will lead to economic growth and development and create stable security in the border areas of these two provinces.
