Abstract:
In this study, the stratigraphic correlation of the Asmari Formation in the Aghajari field is presented in a precise time framework consisting of nine timelines. The nine time-lines were obtained by using Cyclolog software and dated by the latest biozonation scheme of the Asmari Formation. Four stratigraphic packages considering their specific facies and biological characteristics were identified based on time framework and sedimentary facies studies. The previous reservoir zonation of the Asmari reservoir in Aghajari field was revised and new zonation was proposed based on time framework and geological characteristics. The Hendijan paleo-high, which is attributed to the re-activation of pre-exist basement deep-seated Hendijan fault, led to considerable changes in stratigraphic packages thickness and reservoir zones resulting in ambiguities in stratigraphic correlation and reservoir zonation. These problems were resolved by using the time framework-based new zonation.
