Obstacles and challenges of the green policy in the aviation industry
Nowadays, much attention has been paid to green policies with the aim of reducing the effects of the aviation industry on the environment. The purpose of this research is to identify and rank the obstacles and challenges of the green policy in the aviation industry. This research is applied and descriptive in terms of purpose, which was conducted with a mixed methods approach. In the qualitative part, following semi-structured interviews with 14 experts who were selected by purposive sampling, the obtained data were analyzed by thematic analysis approach. In the next step, a questionnaire containing 39 obstacles and challenges informed by the qualitative method was prepared and distributed among the experts who participated in the interview. Fuzzy Delphi method was used to confirm the factors and TOPSIS fuzzy method was used for ranking. The findings show that the obstacles and challenges of implementing the green policy have three main structural, content and contextual criteria and 39 sub-criteria. The findings show that the criteria of ageing aviation fleet, old technology of the air fleet, polluting nature of the aviation industry, lack of long-term planning, priority of economy over the environment are among the most important obstacles and challenges of green policies.
