Comparative study and analysis of the functions of contrast and (plate) array in Bostan of Saadi and Divan of Motenabbi

In the field of Persian and Arabic poetry and literature, there are two prominent personalities who have used various literary arrays to represent their views. Saadi and Motenabbi should be considered as the most prominent figures in this field. In the poems of these two, the array of contrast and plate has a special appearance along with other arrays. So that its examples have been used many times in various verses. By employing this array and using it in their poems, Saadi and Motenabbi were pursuing goals, the investigation of which is the main issue of the present research. The main question of the research is that what aspect or aspects of commonality and difference exist between the functions of the mentioned array in Bostan of Saadi and Divan Motenabbi? The findings of the present research, which was done with reference to library sources and descriptive-analytical method, show that the approach of poets towards this array is more centered around humanizing issues. Based on this, the main functions in the mentioned works of these two poets are: "educational and instructive functions"; "aesthetic and literary functions"; "critical functions"; "Lyric and romantic functions".
