Sociological explanation of the relationship between power structure and marital adjustment in families in Jahrom

The present study has sociologically explained the relationship between power structure and marital adjustment in families in Jahrom. The method used in this research was survey. The statistical population included  families (men and women) living in Jahrom that 351 people from among them  were selected as a sample and using multi-stage random sampling method. The research instrument was a questionnaire and its validity has been determined through considering its face validity and and to determine its reliability, Internal consistency of the test through Cronbach’s alpha has been calculated The descriptive results of the study indicate that the average score of marital adjustment in Jahrom is slightly higher than average. The analytical findings of the study show that the relationship between marital adjustment (total) and power structure (total) is positive and significant. Dimensions of power structure (construction of power relations, ways of applying power and spheres and realm of power) affect the agreement of the couples. Also, the construction of power relations and the methods of applying power affect the satisfaction of the couples, but the domains of power do not affect the satisfaction of the couples. Power relations, spheres and realms of power as well as the ways of applying power have significant relationships with the love and affection of couples. Among the demographic variables, the relationship between age, education, men's occupation, duration of marriage, number of children, different classes with marital adjustment is significant. Explaining the dependent variable in terms of the sum of independent variables indicates that the variables of power structure (dimension of love and affection), men's education, power structure (dimension of building power relations), age distance, social class, women's occupation, women's and men's income are respectively the strongest predictor of marital adjustment and are able to explain 0.230 changes in variance of marital adjustment
