The effect of passive defense on water structures (Case study: Gholaman Dam)
In this research, the effect of passive defense on water structures (Gholaman dam in Bojnourd city) has been investigated. Therefore, the SWOT analysis method was used to achieve appropriate strategies in the Gholaman dam. In order to gain this goal, first of all the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of Gholaman Dam are identified. Furthermore, by reviewing the existing studies, documents and interviews conducted with managers and experts, internal and external factors in relation to the passive defense of Gholaman Dam were identified. Then, the internal and external factor evaluation matrix was developed and evaluated, and the IFE and EFE matrices and their related calculations were performed. Then, the matrix of strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats was prepared, and after examining specific combinations of four sets of strategic factors (defensive, competitive, conservative, and aggressive), a set of possible strategies was identified. Finally, the ranking of strategies was done using QSPM matrix. Important strategies introduced for Gholaman Dam is including adopting a comprehensive plan to reduce security and terrorist threats, cooperating with the country's security agencies in order to improve the strategic conditions of the dam, hiring specialized personnel in the field of water structures and etc. In general, it can be concluded that adhering to the principles of passive defense and adopting a comprehensive plan to reduce security and terrorist threats will reduce the vulnerability of water structures and reduce human casualties, and providing such a comprehensive plan and is method of performance is very important.
