A paradigmatic study of the relations between society, thought and art of Isfahan school(Relying on philosophy, poetry, painting and architecture)AbstractThe sociopolitical changes that emerged due to the establishment of the Safavid period in Iran gathered momentum when Shah Abbas I came to power and chose Isfahan as his capital. As a result of these transformations, thought and art also underwent a change. In this era, a school was formed which was called the school of Isfahan or Isfahani style. Unlike mysticism which emphasized otherworldliness and wholeness, the school of Isfahan had a worldly perspective that paid attention to minute details. The fundamental presuppositions of this school include movement, transformation, attending to worldly affairs, and disregarding the mystical worlds. The current study strives to analyze how the movement has crystalized as a common presupposition in the thought and art of the school of Isfahan. To do so, the current study employed Thomas Kuhn’s theory and concentrated on the dominant paradigm in this period. Based on the findings of this research, the movement and things related to it played a significant role in the poetry, painting, and architecture of this period. Also, by using and emphasizing this presupposition, philosophers engaged in interpreting and solving the philosophical issues.
