Analyzing the role of Iranian intellectuals in the development of nationalism and pseudo-modernism
In the current research, an attempt has been made to analyze the role of intellectuals in the development of nationalism and pseudo-modern formation in Iran by using the historical research method. In this review, the concept of "misplaced nationalism", which appeared in the opinions of the first generation intellectuals, and was formulated by Zia Ebrahimi in recent years, has been used as the theoretical framework of the discussion. In the form of this concept, we consider displacement not as it is proposed in geographical studies, but as an action that is carried out in the mind; An act that removes the Iranian nation from its empirical reality as a society with a Muslim majority in the "East" (the East as an intellectual field in the context of history), and makes it suffer a kind of quasi-modern identity wavering. The findings of the research show that, in general, the intellectual current in Iran was not the product of a specific historical and philosophical experience that led to the emergence of an intellectual caste in the West, and basically that experience was also unrealizable in Iran; And secondly, due to a superficial and imitative attitude towards Western philosophy and civilization and lack of detailed knowledge of the tools to realize this object, it was born incomplete and could never go beyond superficial imitations. These intellectuals have always considered the religion of Islam, Islamic identity, and native culture as the cause of Iran's backwardness.
