Comparing the Effectiveness of Attachment based Theraplay and Parent-Child Relationship Therapy on Self-Criticism and Parental Self-Efficacy of Mothers Children with Separation Anxiety Disorder
One of the challenges in working with children, compared to adults, is that children and adults live in a different world. Children's problems during development are often associated with adults' inability to understand them, respond to their feelings, or their efforts to establish communication. The present study aims to compare the effectiveness of attachment-based play therapy and parent-child relationship-based play therapy on self-criticism and parental self-efficacy.
The current research method is semi-experimental and a pre-test-post-test-follow-up plan (three groups) with two experimental groups and one control group was used to collect data. The statistical population of this research included all the mother-child couples of five to six years old girls and boys with separation anxiety who were registered in preschool centers or kindergartens in the 4th district of Tehran in the academic year of 1402-1401. 45 people were selected by available sampling method and randomly assigned to two experimental groups (15 people in each group) and a control group (15 people). The game experimental group of attachment-based therapy (including therapeutic games, positive parenting using video feedback (Jaffer, Buckermans-Kranberg, & Eisendoorn, 2008), child therapy (Van Fleet, 2005), cycle of security (Marvin, Cooper, Hoffman, & Powell, 2002) ) for 8 sessions of 90 minutes and the experimental group of play therapy based on the parent-child relationship (including the Landrath method based on improving the parent-child relationship and creating empathy and acceptance from the parents for the child, Bratton and others, 2006). Also 10 sessions 2 The tools used in the present study included self-criticism (Thompson and Zaroff, 2004) and parenting self-efficacy (Domka et al., 1996).
Analysis and analysis of the information obtained from the implementation of the questionnaire was done through SPSS-v24 software in two descriptive and inferential sections (variance analysis with repeated measurements). The findings showed that both interventions used in this research can significantly improve self-criticism and parenting self-efficacy of mothers of children with separation anxiety disorder (P<0.05). with the difference that the amount of change in the internal self-criticism component in the attachment-oriented play therapy group decreased more (F=22.60 and P<0.05). compared to play therapy based on parent relationship (F=33.334 and P<0.05).
According to the effectiveness of the interventions, it can be said that by using the special techniques of each intervention, both trainings have been able to improve the self-criticism and parental self-efficacy of mothers of children with separation anxiety disorder.
