Abstract:
Background and objective

Climate change and its effects have become one of the most important priorities of countries today and have seriously affected human life. Border regions have been more affected by this phenomenon due to their specific conditions. This study attempts to investigate the spatial analysis of the impact of climate change on the economy of rural households in Sarvabad County, one of the counties in Kurdistan Province.

Method

This research is descriptive-analytical in terms of its nature, applied in terms of objectives, and survey in terms of data collection method, using a questionnaire. SPSS and ARC GIS software were used to analyze the data. One-sample t-test was used to measure the impact of climate change on the economy of rural households.

Findings

The results of the test showed that all dimensions of the rural household economy were affected by climate change. Thus, climate change affected beekeeping (19.22), fisheries (19.01), horticulture (18.78), agriculture (18.73), animal husbandry (18.59), services (18.47), and handicrafts (18.40), respectively. Spatial analysis was conducted for all dimensions and in general, the rural districts of Zharijeh, Razab, Payglan, Kosalan, Bisaran, Dezli, Shalyar, and Oraman Takht-e-Tarby have been affected the most by climate change.

Results

Analysis of the findings shows that in these border areas with the negative effects of climate change, we will witness an increase in smuggling and the phenomenon of kolbari in the future. As a result, the main priority is the need to educate villagers about climate change and adaptation to it, while at the same time introducing new sources of income.
