Abstract:
The present study was conducted with the aim of comparing the effectiveness of anger management training and parenting training on the parent-child relationship in people with conduct disorder. This research was conducted as a semi-experimental method with a pre-test-post-test design with two experimental groups and one control group. The statistical population included male students of the first year of high school with conduct disorder in the south of Tehran in the summer of 1402. 45 male students of the first year of high school are selected based on the entrance criteria and purposefully from three of the schools in the south of Tehran, and randomly divided into three groups (15 in anger management, 15 in parenting, and 15   in control group). The parents underwent parenting training of the Iranian Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Association in 8, 90-minute group sessions, and the students underwent 8, 90-minute group sessions of anger management training based on Novaka and Spivak's cognitive-behavioral approach. The tools of data collection in this research were the questionnaires of Achenbach and Rascorella's (1991) child and adolescent behavior list and Fain et al.'s (1992) parent-child relationship questionnaires. The results of Univariate one-way covariance analysis showed that both methods were effective on the parent-child relationship in adolescents with conduct disorder. But the effectiveness of parenting training on parent-child relationships was higher than anger management training. Therefore, both types of anger management training and parenting training can be used to improve parent-child relationships in people with conduct disorder.
