Scientific creativity is a complex, acquired skill and is often neglected by teachers during educational activities. Cultivating creativity among students will lead to the production of skilled labor and human capital in the future.

Purpose

The present research was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of the STEM project-based curriculum and its role on the creativity of sixth grade students.

Method

The current research is semi-experimental. The statistical population of the research includes all sixth grade students in the schools of Tabriz, 120 people were selected by random sampling method. The instrument used in this research was Torrance's creativity questionnaire. The subjects of the experimental group learned for 20 sessions through the STEM project-based curriculum. In this research, "Manova analysis of variance" was used to compare the components of the creativity parameter during the pre-test and post-test stages.

Research findings

The results of the analysis of variance showed that the use of STEM project-based curriculum had a significant and positive effect on students' creativity and its components (fluidity, flexibility, innovation, development) P>0.05 . As a result, it can be seen that students who have been trained in the STEM project-based curriculum process are more creative than other students. In general, the observations show that the STEM project-based curriculum has been effective in improving students' creativity in the fluidity component, the impact factor size is 73.6%, the flexibility component is 66.9%, the innovation component is 75.8%, and the extension component is 66.8%.
