Muslim Women's Political Participation A Comparative Study: Iranian Muslim Women (After the Islamic Revolution of 1979) And Muslim Women of the Early Islamic Period (Before the Occultation)

Iranian Muslim women now participate in political affairs, and they are becoming an important subject in Islamic countries and the whole world. Foreign countries have misused this point and have analyzed it according to their own wishes. On the one hand, they call Iranian women fanatic, homebound and reclusive; constantly urging that they should be set free and any kind of role they get in the society is admirable. On the other hand, they deny the dominant role women play in the Iranian society and the crucial positions they hold.This essay elaborates the Islamic attitude toward the participation of women in social affairs and provides practical examples of the political participation of women, using historical evidence from the time of the holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) and the Imams (p.b.u.h). Through these analyses, we come to an illuminating conclusion regarding the political participation of Iranian Muslim women after the Islamic revolution of 1979.
